If you are getting a lawyer and you are not a United States citizen , make sure that your attorney is familiar with this case because it may affect your case. Padilla with the help of an attorney pleaded guilty to a narcotics charge. However, the attorney did not inform Padilla that a guilty plea came with deportation. The Supreme Court ruled that an attorney is duty bound to inform clients possible outcomes, such as deportation. So please make sure that the attorney knows this case, if not find one who doe

Snyder v. Phelps

I finally had a chance to read the Snyder v. Phelps case and found it interesting how the media had twisted the case. While I generally agree to the harmfulness of the Phelps protest, I did agree with upholding the First Amendment was much more important. Certain facts that were left out was the distance of the protest and the visual sight.  It is arguing these kind of factors that a good lawyer excels at and that I plan to do in my own practice.
